Philosophy of Education
In order to achieve our purpose, Montana Wilderness School of the Bible has incorporated a number of factors into its program to constitute our educational philosophy:
Bible Centered
MWSB maintains as its focal point in its curriculum and campus community the Word of God. It is our conviction that His Word is without error and is authoritative as God's communication to man. Our goal is to equip each student with a basic understanding of the Bible and its teachings, to gain an ability to study and apply it and then communicate its truth to others.
Faculty-Student Relationship
As the Lord Jesus lived with and taught His disciples by life and words, it is our desire to have our faculty invest their lives in our students. MWSB strives to create an atmosphere of openness and sharing between faculty, staff and students so that opportunities for learning go well beyond the formal classroom setting. Visiting faculty members on campus are always available for interaction. Staff homes on campus are open to students, creating a family atmosphere.
Personalized Discipleship Emphasis
Students should come expecting that staff members who are working with them will become involved in their lives to help facilitate growth. They will meet with one staff person (of their gender) who will lead them in Bible study, personal goal setting and individualized accountability, all prayerfully administered to help the student live a Godly life.
Wilderness Setting
MWSB is located in the Dearborn Canyon at the base of Steamboat Mountain . The school is in one of the last truly wilderness settings in the Continental U.S. as we are located 23 miles from the nearest town and are situated directly adjacent to the Bob Marshall / Scapegoat / Great Bear Wilderness Complex, which attaches to Glacier National Park at its northernmost boundaries.
Academically Balanced
MWSB is a college level school that teaches, grades, and expects student work at college level. With our purpose being to equip men and women in God's Word and the Christian life, we attempt to bring a careful balance of the cognitive subject matter and the applicational principles to each individual within the one year program.
